Trying to break the pinata

Carter turned 5 on June 17th. We had his birthday party on Sunday, June 14th so that Chuck could be home. We did the party at our house this year. We had a slip-n-slide, sprinklers and water guns and a pinata. The theme was Spiderman, of course. All of his little friends came and played. He had a great time and got tons of toys.
Then on his actual birthday, he wanted to go to the Japenese restaurant but my dad talked him into going to Papa's Pizza to play games. He has said all week, I can wear whatever I want and watch whatever I want because it is my birthday week. We are counting down the seconds until his birthday week is over!
I have such mixed emotions about him turning 5. I am so happy and realize how blessed I am. He is such a sweet little boy and has been such a blessing to us everyday. However, I do not want him to be growing up. The last few days of school, I looked at how much my kindergarteners changed throughout the year and realized that is going to be my baby next year. I always hear people say once a child starts school, time just flies by. Then I think, this first 5 years has flown by, how can it go any faster. I just want to freeze him right where he is...his sweet innocent ways.

Happy Birthday Jagger!

They loved the Spiderman Chuckie!
The Birthday Boy

Laney just played in the floor with the ribbons from the presents. Our good friends Rodney and Sabrina have a little boy, Jagger who is 4 days older than Carter and their little girl, Ava is just 10 days younger than Laney. Jagger turned 5 on June 13th. We went up to his birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese in Asheville. Carter had a great time and loved every second of being with Jagger.

Swimming

We have been swimming at mom's alot. Carter was swimming so well last year and he has regressed a little. We are working on his swimming and he gets better everyday. He just has to polish up a little bit. Laney loves the water and her ladybug float.

A Day at the Zoo

Carter and Blake...James would never pose for a picture with Carter.

Jessie, our friend from Shelby invited us to go to the Greenville Zoo with a group of mommies and kids. Other than being very hot, we had a great time. I thought it was a very nice zoo and well worth the money. They had several wonderful playgrounds for the kids. Laney just strolled in her stroller and Carter ran from animal to animal. He now wants an ape to live with him.

8 months and crawling...

Laney turned 8 months on the 28th of May. Things were so hectic that day that I didn't get to take her picture. Then on the 29th, the camera battery was dead. So we finally got to it on the 30th. She is pulling herself up and walking around while holding on the sofa or table.
Chuck's dad is in the hospital with pnuemonia and a staph infection. We went down to see him yesterday. In order to prevent germs, we held her the whole time. When we finally got home last night, she just wanted down (I know that is hard to believe)! We put her in the floor and started playing with her and all of a sudden she just started crawling towards me. She is going very slowly but she gets where she wants.
Mom and Dad opened their pool Memorial Day weekend. We were gone to see Jason and Karrie so we finally let Carter swim last Sunday. It doesn't matter how cold it is, our kids love the pool.
Carter goes for his kindergarten screening next week. We have been trying to teach him so much over the past few months so he wouldn't be completely clueless when he walks in. We will see how it goes.
We only have 2 more school days. As much as I love my kids this year, I am ready for a break - I look forward to spending every day with my babies!
